Susie Shoemaker

Susie Shoemaker started as our plant manager in 2015. She has worked at the Modern Laundry for 26 years, 23 of them as a dry cleaner.

“I came to work for The Modern Laundry so I could be home with my children after school and in the evening. I was a single parent with two little ones who had been working second shift, and I was not seeing them as much as I would like, so I came here. I started as a dry cleaner and spotter. Jane Zellers, a fine materials expert from Pennsylvania, trained me.”

“I am an expert in the restoration of wedding gowns, prom dresses and fine materials. I worked at The Modern Laundry until my children graduated college, and I was going to go to another job when I was offered the position of plant manager by Carolyn Kenton. It's been three years, and I am still here, helping The Modern Laundry build a bright future. ”
