Carolyn became President of the Modern Laundry Corporation in 2015. She has been an owner since 1981.

"I joined the laundry family in 1965 when I married Bill Kenton, the grandson of the Laundry’s founder, Ernest Roden. I became an owner of the Modern Laundry in 1981 upon Bill's death. Throughout my marriage, I enjoyed all the benefits of the laundry’s services such as pressed table cloths, napkins, men’s shirts and bed sheets as well as dry cleaned clothes and household items."

Bill and I met at the University of Kentucky. I had never been to Maysville before we began our courtship. In those early days, he would entertain me with tall tales of his boyhood and adolescence. One of his favorites was the story of how his education was funded by his mother who had to take in laundry to send him to school. 'She had big hands,' he would say with a grin. She also had a big heart and a love for her family business."
